Bravo TV’s “Thicker Than Water” is Major Hit starring Ben Tankard and Family.

Bravo TV: Sunday nights 9/8p cst.   Thicker Than Water: The Tankards

Watch out, Duck Dynasty and Kardashians!  There’s a new sheriff in town!  Fads and fashions come and go, but it looks like for this season, “Blend Is In”.  The blend we are talking of is the blended family.  Bravo TV has a monster hit on their hands with their new docu-series Thicker Than Water: The Tankards.   Industry insiders are calling this series the Best New Series Of The Year.   Led by man-of-the-house Ben Tankard, a Grammy award nominated gospel artist and former pro-basketball player, and his wife, Jewel, this blended family (including five children, two daughter-in-laws, one grandchild and housekeeper) all reside under one roof.  Sounds like a recipe for disaster – or reality gold.  This new reality TV family reminds one of the old school Cosby family of the late ’80’s.  The Tankards have already began to take over the spotlight.

Self-dubbed the “Black Brady Bunch,” the Tankards have all the necessary features to join the ranks of Bravolebrities: wealth, drama, conflicting personalities, big egos, shouting and, of course, lots of family love.  What is different about the Tankards is they add a whole lot of JESUS to the mix.  They are volunteer senior Pastors of a church they started in their mega-mansion living room twelve years ago as a bible study group for millionaires.   The bible study group grew fast and became to big for the home so they purchased a building, stuck a sign out front and named it Destiny Center Church.  Now it is one of the fastest growing ministries in the area.  Their core teaching is not Prosperity Gospel, it is something they have coined “ Destiny Gospel “, which means if you follow God, he will reveal to you what your inner gifts are.  Once you tap into those gifts (your Destiny), success is just a matter of time. Faith, Family and Finances are frequent topics from their pulpit.  Leading by example, the Tankards work hard all week in their multiple successful businesses and praise God on Sundays by donating their time as pastors of their church for NO salary.  A unique concept!  Fifty others volunteer in different areas of the ministry as well, including the music staff.

With their new series Thicker Than Water: The Tankards  this larger than life family upholds Southern charm and strong spiritual ties, while being mindful of their family motto, “God wants us all to be millionaires so we can be a blessing to others”.  The Tankards earn their living from Ben’s impressive career as the ” Godfather” and bestselling gospel/jazz artist/producer of all time.  He has recorded 18 CDs and has earned 15 gold and 6 platinum records in his 25 years in the music business (he is the producer who discovered Yolanda Adams).  He also is a motivational speaker for  the NBA’s Development league and suit designer for the Big & Tall. His suit line ” Full Tank” drops in 2014.  As an author, his new book ” The Full Tank Life ” is scheduled for late 2014 release.   As if this were not enough, Tankard is also an instrument rated aircraft pilot and uses his two airplanes to fly to over 100 events a year to provide motivation, music, and ministry to underserved communities, even to places that normally cannot afford big time artists.  He has an outreach for inner city kids called ” Urban Eagles “.

Jewel is a platinum level  network  marketing president and financial planner as well as motivational speaker and model.  The Tankards have a very high work ethic and charity mandate on their lives.  They support several other ministries and charities and make a goal to be a blessing to someone different each day.  They have given away 18 vehicles in the community.  Call the Tankards what you want, but lazy and stingy they are not.

Under the watchful eye of the patriarch and matriarch, the Tankard children, although young adults, still live at home and must abide by Ben and Jewel’s rules. The Tankards aim to be the best and brightest in everything they do.  Along with their drive comes a healthy dose of rivalry, proving the adage “You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family,” especially true.  Though it is funny and entertaining, Thicker Than Water: The Tankards  is also full of life lessons that we never get too old to learn. Great TV !

Thicker Than Water: The Tankards   is produced by Sirens Media. Bravo is a program service of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, a division of NBCUniversal.  BravoTV.com
