AMI’s newly released U.S. model points to top states and metros for specific SMB ICT/cloud solutions

LIGHTNING RELEASES: New York, NY (2/27/2014)- Half of the $286 billion annual spend on IT, communications and cloud solutions by U.S. small and medium businesses (SMBs; those with up to 999 employees) is concentrated in just 25 cities, according to a new sizing and forecasting model from AMI-Partners. AMI developed the new state and metro marketing tool from its well-known Global SMB Market Sizing and Forecast Model, often referred to by marketers as simply the Global Model or GM. The full GM is largely based on AMI’s ongoing global end-user tracking studies, and provides SMB market sizing and forecasting by employee count, vertical industry, route to market and more than 100 discrete ICT and cloud solutions in 50 geographies around the world. AMI’s GM is supplemented with vendor and partner supply-side data, as well as a host of market and econometric sources.

With the new U.S. model, SMB marketers can confidently identify the top states and 25 metro areas for specific ICT and cloud solutions—whether it’s hosted SaaS, hybrid IaaS servers, or more traditional on-prem offerings. “Now we can provide U.S. SMB ICT market sizing and spending data at a much more granular level,” said Deepinder Sahni, AMI’s SVP Global Sizing and Segmentation. “The new model is an essential tool for SMB opportunity assessment that will support market campaigns, annual reviews, as well as budgeting and planning sessions across a wide variety of technologies and cloud solutions.” The model is delivered in pivot-table format and delivers multiple views as shown in the graphic below:

More About AMI’s Market Sizing Models

The new SMB Top 25 U.S. Metro and 50 State ICT and Cloud Sizing Model is part of AMI’s Global SMB Market Sizing and Forecast Model, used by SMB marketers worldwide for more than 15 years. Delivered in pivot-table format, AMI’s SMB models enable data-driven marketing and sales decisions to be made with confidence and precision. The models drive customizable views through many filters—products, firmographics, adoption rates, ICT categories, spending levels and channels (routes to market). AMI’s models can be tailored to a specific taxonomy—whether related to ICT spending, firm size, installed base, shipments or other metrics. These tools provide SMB vendors, service providers and partners with consistency, and the ability to compare SMB data with internal sources—such as finance and sales—for further analysis. The models are a valuable asset for planning sessions, events, and company subsidiaries as well as corporate marketing and finance. AMI has recently extended its SMB models to encompass enterprise companies (i.e. firms with 1,000 or more employees), home-based businesses and the public sector (government and education).
