Viendomovies at the Guadalajara Festival

LIGHTNING RELEASES –MIAMI, Florida, – April 3, 2014 – ViendoMovies, the 24 hour film channel with no commercial breaks that programs content originally produced in Spanish, offers its audience full coverage and a summary of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) on its channel, the website, and through all social media platforms. The Guadalajara International Film Festival is a week-long event held each March since 1986 and it’s considered one of the most prestigious film festivals for Latin American films and its makers, as well as being among the most important in the Spanish Language world.

The Argentinean film “Ciencias Naturales” by Matias Lucchesi triumphed with the most prestigious award winning as the Best Latin American Film. The movie, which also won the Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus at the Berlin International Film Festival and was also nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Miami International Film Festival, received the Best Actress award for both of its protagonists; previous winner of the same award Paula Hertzog and Paola Barrientos. It tells the story of a girl in a rural school in the middle of the mountains on a quest to find her true identity and that of her estranged father, even with her mother’s disapproval.

Meanwhile the documentary “Eco de la Montaña” directed by Nicolas Echevarría, won the Mezcal Award for Best Mexican Film. The film portrays the life and work of Huichol artist Santos de la Torre, who although having a mural exhibited at the Louvre, still lives in oblivion. The film follows Torre on his trip to Wirikuta, a trip of 385 miles, to ask for permission from the gods of the Huichol tribe to paint another mural.
